Wanderers’ newest recruit Caolan Boyd-Munce says he couldn’t wait to put pen to paper on his contract with the Chairboys after learning of the club’s plans for the future.
The midfielder, 25, links up again with Mike Dodds, his former coach in Birmingham’s academy, and says the pull of working with Mike – coupled with the exciting developments around the club – was enough to convince him to reject offers elsewhere to move to Adams Park.
“As soon as I heard it was an option, and after speaking to the guys here, it was a no-brainer,” he said.
“When I heard about the academy, the new pitch and the project here going forward, it’s hard not to be excited.
“Mike was the first to take me under his wing when I moved over to England when I was 15-16 and I’ve followed his progress ever since. I’m really excited to work with him again.
“He showed me a totally new side to football that I’d never seen back home and broadened my horizons. Hopefully I can take more from him and add that to my game.”
And when he was asked to describe himself as a player, his answer is sure to whet the appetite of Wanderers fans eager to see him in action:
“I like to take risks and score goals; especially in the season just gone, I felt like I stepped up after Christmas and delivered more on that front.
“That’s what matters to me. I like to take the handbrake off, and hopefully I can bring that here in the style that the staff want me to."
