Wycombe Wanderers are thrilled to team up with Buckinghamshire Council to showcase the Multiply workshops delivered by Buckinghamshire Adult Learning, with some Chairboys-themed content set to form part of the content delivered to participants.
Multiply is a government-funded programme to help adults who do not already have a maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent) improve their confidence with numbers.
Classes are held both online and in person at local venues across the High Wycombe community, and are designed to meet diverse needs and empower learners to navigate numerical challenges confidently.
They range from basic maths and healthy cooking to more advanced classes covering budgeting, data and getting to grips with Microsoft Excel.
And Wycombe Wanderers will play a big part, with the club’s WanderersTV crew producing lessons based around football and even starring some of the playing squad.
Representatives from the Multiply team will be around the club’s Adams Park stadium on selected home matchdays to meet fans and explain more about the programme, while fans will also spot plenty of advertising for Multiply around the ground each matchday.
Councillor Anita Cranmer, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Wycombe Wanderers FC to promote the Multiply workshops delivered by Buckinghamshire Adult Learning, as part of our Opportunity Bucks programme focusing on improving outcomes for residents.
"It's never too late to develop new skills and this partnership is a fantastic way to showcase how maths is used in a footballing environment, from data and stats, to health and nutrition. We strongly encourage anyone who is looking to improve their confidence with numbers to explore the football-inspired learning opportunities and develop their skills further with an online and/or classroom-based Multiply workshop.”
Ben Brown, the senior commercial executive at Wycombe Wanderers, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Buckinghamshire Council on an initiative that delivers huge benefits across the local community to adult learners, and uses the power of football to help educate a wide range of people using topics and people that they’ll be familiar with.
“We hope many of our fans will explore the opportunities and give it a try, and it’s also a fantastic platform for us to showcase Wycombe Wanderers to a wider audience across the county.”
