West Ham United midfielder Freddie Potts is Matt Bloomfield’s ninth new signing of the summer, arriving on a season-long loan deal in time to feature at Adams Park in Joe Jacobson’s testimonial against Cardiff City on Saturday.
The 19-year-old has been on tour in Australia with the Hammers’ first team this summer, having also featured in the squad during their Europa Conference League winning campaign last term, coming off the bench in two games.

Freddie is the son of former West Ham right-back Steve, who played against the Blues in an FA Cup tie in 1995 and the London Fives tournament a year earlier, while his brother Dan has also featured in five fixtures against the Chairboys for Portsmouth and Luton.
Bloomfield said: “We went along to watch West Ham train at the end of last season and Freddie was a player who stood out, and we identified him as someone we’d love to bring in on loan, so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to make it happen.

“A lot of credit goes to Richard Thomas, who has a close relationship with West Ham, including Freddie’s dad Steve and also Kevin Nolan, and it’s great to bring in a young lad who’s highly thought of and has been around a first-team environment at a Premier League club.
“He plays with real energy and athleticism in the middle of the park and will really suit the way we want to play, so I’m excited to see how he develops throughout the season with us.”
The deal for Wanderers' new number 19 is subject to EFL and FA approval.
