Wycombe Wanderers have named the gantry at the back of the Frank Adams Stand in honour of the late Bill Turnbull, who passed away earlier this month.
The legendary broadcaster commentated on hundreds of Chairboys fixtures from his beloved position on the gantry, often bemoaning the relocation of the commentary position to the north side of the stadium due to the expiration of ISDN facilities on the gantry.
A special unveiling of The Bill Turnbull Gantry was scheduled to take place with his family present at Saturday's game against Port Vale, but the postponement of that fixture meant that tributes to Bill will now be arranged for a future date.
Phil Catchpole, the club's Head of Audio and Broadcast, has worked with Wycombe Sound to relocate the commentary position to the gantry in time for tonight's League 1 fixture against Accrington Stanley, making use of the state-of-the-art wifi connectivity to broadcast over the Internet rather than ISDN.
We'll be thinking of you, Bill.
