Wycombe Wanderers are delighted to have taken the next step in its wide-ranging digital enhancements by launching a brand-new website and streaming platform.
Fans can now register on the site and purchase WanderersTV monthly subscriptions, while match passes for the next league game - against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday 8th February - will be on sale later this week.
The club have left the EFL Digital collective and have partnered with sports technology experts Urban Zoo for the creation of its new website, a club app – which will launch later this season – and single sign-on platform, named My Quarter – which will be developed over the coming months across the website, app, WanderersTV, ticketing, retail and wifi platforms to provide a smoother experience for all supporters and to enable the club to understand and communicate with its fans more effectively.
WanderersTV, headed up by its new Head of Audio and Broadcast Phil Catchpole, has been developed by video streaming platform specialists Stream AMG, and is the new destination for live audio and video match streams, behind-the-scenes access and exclusive interviews, replacing the EFL-provided iFollow platform.
Rob Couhig, chairman of Wycombe Wanderers, said: “We are committed to delivering the best possible experiences for our supporters, whether it’s in the stadium with state-of-the-art wifi, LED screens and sound systems, or online, where we are passionate about creating compelling content to tell the story of the Worldwide Wycombe Wanderers Phenomenon.
“Urban Zoo and Stream AMG presented to us a whole series of fantastic opportunities to become independent from the EFL Digital collective, and launch a Wycombe Wanderers website, app and streaming platform for the first time. To maximise these opportunities, I’m delighted to have brought Phil Catchpole into the team to lead our audio and broadcast operation and I know our supporters will love the developments that will be unveiled in the weeks, months and years to come.
“This club is Championship-ready, and developing and improving all the time. We are establishing more and more fan groups across the world. Our attendances are the highest they have been for a long time. Our new website, app and WanderersTV will take our media output to the next level and we ask our supporters to get involved from day one, registering on the site, becoming a WanderersTV subscriber, and buying audio or video match passes… but only if you can’t get to the game!”
Urban Zoo’s COO James Campbell stated: “From the first meeting with the team at Wycombe Wanderers FC through to the delivery of the completed website, it is abundantly clear that the club are pushing the boundaries in numerous channels.
"Their committed desire to deliver best in class services for their supporters has been a privilege to work alongside. The new Wycombe Wanderers website has a much improved look and feel and is designed to provide fans with a more enjoyable and accessible experience.”
FAQs
What will WanderersTV cost?
Subscriptions to WanderersTV – and audio and video match passes – will cost the same as they did on iFollow.
Will I be able to watch every match?
No – the broadcast restrictions remain the same across the whole EFL, regardless of whether clubs operate in or out of the EFL Digital collective. That means you’ll be able to watch the same matches as before, i.e. those not played at 3pm on a Saturday.
Will all video content now be behind a paywall?
No – the club will continue to provide a significant number of free-to-view videos on WanderersTV and across social media. Fans are encouraged to sign up for a monthly or annual pass to access premium behind-the-scenes content.
I was an iFollow monthly or annual subscriber. What happens to my subscription?
If you paid monthly for your iFollow access, your subscription will be automatically stopped, and you’ll receive a pro-rata refund for the number of days remaining in the current month. You will then need to begin a new monthly subscription with WanderersTV. If you paid annually for your iFollow access, you will receive a voucher code via email (to the address associated to your iFollow account) which you can redeem on WanderersTV to receive free access for the remainder of the season.
Can I watch matches online before the app is launched?
Yes – you can enjoy WanderersTV’s on-demand content and live streams on the desktop and mobile/tablet sites.
What does single sign-on mean?
Once the integration process is complete later this year, fans will only need to log on once and enjoy seamless access between the website, WanderersTV, retail site (wwfcshop.co.uk) and ticketing site (tickets.wwfc.com), negating the need for multiple accounts.
Will I still be able to listen to live match commentaries on BBC Three Counties Radio?
Yes - BBC Three Counties will continue to broadcast live match audio commentaries on 98FM. WanderersTV remains the only place for online live match audio commentaries.
Will the club be producing its own video stream of matches?
Not at this stage; that will be a development which is explored in the weeks and months to come. In the immediate future, WanderersTV will display the same video feed from IMG which was used for iFollow.
