Andre Burley, Andron Georgiou, Malachi Linton and Anis Mehmeti sign deals.
Wycombe Wanderers have strengthened their squad with the signings of four young talents – Andre Burley, Andron Georgiou, Malachi Linton and Anis Mehmeti – following successful trials with the club this summer.
The quartet joined the Chairboys following the launch of a ‘B Team’ programme, headed up by Sam Grace, which will provide a pathway into first-team action, access to specialist, dedicated coaching alongside training with the first-team, and enable players to benefit from more game-time during regular practice matches.
Grace said: “Andre, Andron, Malachi and Anis have done really well since they arrived and deserve this opportunity to develop their ability with us and prove they have what it takes to forge successful careers in the game.
“We’ve had a close look at dozens of different players over the past couple of months and these four have stood out, not just with their skillsets on the pitch, but their willingness to learn, work hard and adapt to the culture that has brought the club great success in recent years.”
Manager Gareth Ainsworth added: “It’s a big step for the club, bringing in these potential hidden gems who have not quite worked out elsewhere but we believe have what it takes to kick on and provide real competition for places in the first team further down the track.
“Each of them has stood up to the challenge when training with our senior players and I’m excited by their potential, particularly because I know they will learn a lot by working closely with Sam and also receiving guidance from our first-team regulars on a day-to-day basis.
“Expanding the squad by bringing in these four lads is a testament to how far the club has some in the past few years, and also the vision and support of Rob Couhig who has backed us to continue to take things in the right direction and develop more young players who will hopefully go on to achieve success for themselves and for the club.”
Andre Burley, aged 21, is a defender/midfielder previously with Reading, who has spent time on loan in Ireland with Waterford United.
Andron Georgiou is a 20-year-old winger who made a handful of senior appearances for his former club Stevenage, also enjoying loan spells with Kings Langley, St Albans and Hendon.
Former Ipswich Town youngster Malachi Linton arrives from Lowestoft Town, with the 19-year-old also spending time previously with Crewe Alexandra.
Attacking midfielder Anis Mehmeti, aged 19, left Norwich City’s academy last season and has represented Albania at under-19 level.
